Around Toronto

The city has neighbors that are worth visiting, of course. Around Toronto are places waiting to be discovered.

Perhaps, the most recommended place to go from TO is the Niagara Falls. While that is true, that's not the only place to go. There are old, quaint, lovely little villages outside this city where life is a bit slow, peaceful and worth discovering. The countryside is charming in autumn when all the leaves turn fiery red, orange and yellow. The foliage is just magnificent to see and worth stopping by and admiring if you're traveling by car.

If you want to experience old Victorian lifestyle, visiting the Black Creek Pioneer Village is certainly the place to go.

1. Take a tour of Ontario’s Wine Country. It is only an hour away via the Gardiner and QEW. Ontario produces world class wines, and some of them are only for sale at the wineries. Don’t forget to bring along a designated driver.

2. Check out Niagara Falls. It is one of the most breathtaking sites on the planet and one of the most popular honeymoon destinations for decades. It’s about 1.5 hours by car from Toronto. Don’t forget to ride the Maid of the Mist.

3. Experience Africa at the African Lion Safari. Though not technically in Toronto, this safari is worth traveling for to see African animals wandering about the reserve.

4. Visit the Martyrs' Shrine where the late Pope John Paul II visited in the 90's.
